Is an aging mini-split worth repairing, or should I replace the system?
It usually comes down to the fault. A dirty blower wheel, clogged drain, failed indoor fan, or control board is worth fixing on almost any age of head. A compressor or a refrigerant leak in the line set on an aging system tilts toward replacement, which we coordinate. We’ll show you the math first.

When the problem is dirt, not a failed part

Leaks, drains, and condensate pumps
Water running down the wall below the indoor unit usually comes from a clogged condensate drain line, an improperly sloped line, or, where the drain has to rise and a condensate pump lifts the water out, a failed pump. We clear the line, verify the slope, and test or replace the pump.
Error codes and no-cool faults
Mini-splits communicate faults through blinking lights or display codes that vary by brand. We read and interpret them — sensor faults, indoor-outdoor communication errors, pressure faults — and diagnose the underlying cause. No-cool and no-heat problems usually trace to low refrigerant (a line-set leak), a failed outdoor fan motor or compressor, or a reversing-valve fault in heat-pump mode.

We are EPA Section 608 Universal certified. We check pressures, locate leaks, and don’t just top off a leaking sealed system, which only delays the real fix.
A documented concealed mini-split leak repair
At a Hollywood condo, one rooftop condenser fed three concealed ceiling air handlers. A leak search led away from the roof to a quick-connect fitting in a hallway-ceiling cavity. We cut out that fitting, brazed the copper line, blew it through with nitrogen, and pulled a vacuum that held before refrigerant went back in. The outdoor condenser’s location does not identify where a leak is. Before a visit, send the brand and model, say whether cooling, heating, or both changed, which heads are affected, and share any displayed code plus photos of the indoor and outdoor nameplates. Those details help scope the diagnosis without guessing at a part.

How much does mini-split repair cost in Los Angeles?
Repairs are quoted after diagnosis, because the price depends on what failed: a sensor, a fan motor, a control board and a leak repair are very different jobs. You get the price before work begins. Our $85 service call is credited toward the repair when you go ahead. If the head only needs cleaning, that's a separate service with its own price.
Why is my mini-split leaking water?
Water running down the wall below the indoor head usually comes from a clogged condensate drain line, a drain line without enough slope, or, where the drain has to rise and a condensate pump lifts the water out, a failed pump. A coil that froze and is thawing can drip too. We clear the line, check the slope, and test or replace the pump.
Why is my mini-split not blowing cold air?
When a head runs but blows warm, the usual causes are low refrigerant from a leak in the line set or fittings, a failed outdoor fan motor or compressor, or a sensor or control board fault. A reversing-valve fault can also leave a heat pump stuck in the wrong mode. We check pressures and read any error code before replacing parts. Very dirty filters or a clogged coil can also cut cooling; that's a cleaning, not a repair.
Do you handle refrigerant and leaks on mini-splits?
Yes. We are EPA Section 608 Universal certified, required by law for refrigerant work. We check system pressures and, if the charge is low, locate the leak in the line set or connections. Low refrigerant usually points to a leak, so we look for it rather than just adding refrigerant to a system that may lose it again.
