What does Samsung 21E mean?
Samsung lists 21E as a freezer fan error: the control board is not sensing the freezer fan turning when it should be. Samsung says the fan is usually frozen up, from a door left open or a gap in the door gasket, and that a failed fan motor can also cause it.
What causes Samsung 21E?
- Fan frozen in place after a door was left open or a gasket gap let warm air in
- Freezer packed so full the door doesn't close completely
- Failed freezer fan motor (worn bearings or open winding)
- Loose or corroded wiring connector, or a control board output fault
How to fix Samsung 21E yourself
- 1 Make sure nothing inside stops the freezer door from closing, and check that the door gasket touches the cabinet all the way around.
- 2 If you choose to defrost, as Samsung allows for 21E, move the food to a cooler, unplug the refrigerator and leave the doors open until the frost has melted.
- 3 Plug it back in and listen for the fan. If 21E returns, book service rather than defrosting again.
