What does Samsung 22E mean?

Samsung lists 22E and 22C as a fridge fan error: the control board is not sensing rotation from the fan that cools the fresh-food compartment. Samsung says running the refrigerator with a door left open too long can cause it.

What causes Samsung 22E?

• Frost or ice on the fridge fan blade, often after a door was left open too long
• A door that doesn't seal: a gasket gap, or shelves packed so full the door can't close
• Failed fridge fan motor
• Loose or damaged wiring between the fan and the control board

How to fix Samsung 22E yourself

1. 1 Unplug the refrigerator, move the food to a cooler and leave the doors open for a few hours so frost on the fan can melt. These are Samsung's own steps for 22E.
2. 2 Plug it back in, close the doors and let it run normally. Make sure nothing on the shelves or door bins stops the doors from closing fully.
3. 3 If 22E comes back, stop defrosting and book service: the fan motor or its wiring needs testing.
