LG Washer IE — Inlet Water Error

The washer fills very slowly, or barely fills at all, and then the cycle stops.

What does LG IE mean?

The washer did not fill to the required level within the allotted time. The control board expects a certain water level within about 4 minutes of the fill valve opening.

What causes LG IE?

  • Supply valves behind the washer are not fully open
  • Kinked supply hoses
  • Clogged inlet valve screens (mesh filter at the hose connection points)
  • Failed water inlet valve solenoid
  • Low home water pressure (below 20 PSI)

How to fix LG IE yourself

  1. 1 Verify both hot and cold supply valves behind the washer are fully open (turned counterclockwise as far as they go).
  2. 2 Check for kinks in the supply hoses.
  3. 3 Turn off the supply valves, disconnect the hoses, and inspect the small mesh screens inside the inlet valve ports — clean any sediment with a toothbrush.
  4. 4 Reconnect and test.
