LG Er dH — Defrost Heater Error
What does LG Er dH mean?
The defrost heater failed to raise the evaporator temperature to the expected level during the defrost cycle. This causes ice to accumulate on the evaporator coils, progressively reducing airflow and cooling.
What causes LG Er dH?
- Open or shorted defrost heater element
- Failed defrost thermostat (thermal fuse blown)
- Defrost timer or control board not initiating defrost cycle
- Wiring harness damage near the heater assembly
How to fix LG Er dH yourself
- Power cycle the fridge (unplug 5 minutes) to clear temporary faults.
- Check if both compartments are cooling — if the freezer is fine but the fridge is warm, excessive ice buildup is likely blocking airflow.
- Do NOT attempt to manually defrost with a heat gun or hairdryer near the evaporator — risk of damaging the sealed system.
