Sub-Zero refrigerator repair across Westside LA
Sub-Zero refrigerators are engineered for 20+ year service lives — but only when serviced correctly. The 600-series and 700-series built-ins have intricate sealed systems and proprietary components that require Sub-Zero-specific experience, not generic appliance know-how.
Epic Star has serviced Sub-Zero refrigerators across Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Holmby Hills, Trousdale Estates, Sherman Oaks, and surrounding Westside neighborhoods. Our service van is stocked with the Sub-Zero parts that fail most often in LA’s dry, dusty climate.
What we honestly are — and aren’t
We are not Sub-Zero Factory Authorized. That designation belongs exclusively to Box Appliance in LA County. We’re an independent option. For in-warranty Sub-Zero units, call Box. For out-of-warranty work, where you want faster scheduling and competitive pricing, we’re a strong alternative.
Common Sub-Zero failure modes
The dual-compressor design that keeps Sub-Zero fresh and frozen food separate is also where most age-related failures show up. The most frequent calls we get are condenser fans and coils clogged with dust — a leading cause of a unit that runs warm — followed by failing evaporator fans, magnetic door gaskets that no longer seal, and ice makers that stop producing. On 600-series and newer 700-series built-ins we also see control-board and temperature-sensor faults that throw error codes. Diagnosing whether the problem is the sealed system, a fan, or the electronics is exactly where Sub-Zero-specific experience saves you money.
Model lines we service
We work across the full Sub-Zero range: classic 500-series and 600-series built-ins, the current 700-series integrated and Designer columns, BI over-and-under and side-by-side configurations, PRO 48 commercial-style units, undercounter 700/UC models, and 400-series wine storage. Parts on older units (pre-2000) can be limited, and we tell you that honestly before the visit rather than after.
Can you repair an out-of-warranty Sub-Zero without going through Box Appliance?
Yes. Box Appliance holds Sub-Zero’s factory authorization for units still under warranty, but once yours is out of warranty you’re free to choose an independent. We’re EPA Section 608 Universal certified for the sealed-system refrigerator repair these built-ins need, stock the common wear parts, and usually schedule faster than the authorized channel.

Common Sub-Zero issues we fix
-
Sub-Zero refrigerator not cooling
Most often caused by condenser coil contamination (Sub-Zero recommends professional cleaning every 6-12 months), evaporator fan failure, or sealed-system refrigerant leak. Diagnosis is critical — symptoms overlap.
$250–$650 (sealed-system can be $800+) -
Sub-Zero ice maker not working
The 600-series ice makers fail mode is often the water inlet valve or the ice maker module itself. We carry common Sub-Zero ice maker parts.
$280–$520 -
Sub-Zero condenser coil cleaning
Recommended every 6-12 months in pet-heavy LA homes. Skipping this is the #1 cause of premature compressor failure.
$160–$220 -
Sub-Zero loud noise
Could be evaporator fan motor, condenser fan motor, or compressor. We diagnose without parts-changing guesswork.
$220–$580 -
Sub-Zero door seal/gasket replacement
Aged gaskets cause condensation, energy waste, and uneven cooling. Genuine Sub-Zero gaskets only — aftermarket gaskets fail prematurely.
$240–$420
Frequently asked questions
-
Are you a Sub-Zero Factory Authorized service?
No — and we are upfront about that. Box Appliance is Sub-Zero's exclusive Factory Authorized partner in LA County. We are an independent specialist. For in-warranty units, Box is your route. For out-of-warranty Sub-Zero repairs, Epic Star is a strong alternative with typically faster scheduling and competitive pricing.
-
Do you carry Sub-Zero parts?
We stock common Sub-Zero parts in our service van: condenser fan motors, evaporator fan motors, water inlet valves, door gaskets, ice maker modules for 600-series. Less common parts we order — typically arrive in 2-5 business days from authorized distributors.
-
How long do Sub-Zero refrigerators last?
With proper maintenance (annual condenser cleaning, gasket inspection), Sub-Zero refrigerators routinely run 20+ years. The compressor warranty is 12 years. Given replacement cost of $7,000-$15,000, even substantial repairs ($1,500-$2,500) typically make financial sense on a 15-year-old Sub-Zero.
-
Do you work on Sub-Zero wine storage units?
Yes. We service all Sub-Zero wine storage including 424, 427, 430, 1424, 1427, and integrated wine columns. Temperature instability in wine storage is most often a thermostat or compressor issue.
-
Can you repair an older Sub-Zero (pre-2000)?
Yes. We service vintage Sub-Zero models including the 500-series. Parts availability is more limited but most repairs are still feasible. We'll let you know before the service call if parts are unavailable for your specific model and year.
-
Service call cost for Sub-Zero?
Standard $85 service call, credited toward the repair when you proceed. We provide a flat-rate quote before any work begins.
