Samsung Dryer HE — Heating Error

The drum turns for the full cycle but the clothes come out cold and damp.

What does Samsung HE mean?

The dryer is not generating heat — the control board expected a temperature rise that did not occur within the allotted time. Clothes will tumble but remain damp.

What causes Samsung HE?

  • Blown thermal fuse (most common — caused by overheating from a blocked duct)
  • Failed heating element (electric models)
  • Failed gas igniter or flame sensor (gas models)
  • Failed high-limit thermostat

How to fix Samsung HE yourself

  1. 1 Verify the dryer is on a dedicated 240V circuit (electric) or that the gas supply valve is open (gas).
  2. 2 Check that the lint filter and duct are clear — a blown thermal fuse is almost always caused by previous overheating from duct blockage.
  3. 3 Unplug the dryer, or switch off its 240V breaker, before you remove any panel — a thermal fuse test is a de-energized continuity check, never a live one.
  4. 4 With the power off, the thermal fuse is usually accessible near the exhaust duct port inside the dryer cabinet; testing it takes a multimeter set to continuity. Do this only if you're comfortable with basic electrical testing — otherwise call us.
