What does LG d80 mean?
The FlowSense system detected that the exhaust duct is approximately 80% restricted. Airflow is severely reduced, causing the dryer to overheat and take much longer to dry clothes.
What causes LG d80?
- Lint accumulation in the duct run
- Crushed or kinked flexible duct behind or under the dryer
- Bird or pest nest in the exterior vent hood
- Exterior vent flap stuck closed
How to fix LG d80 yourself
- 1 Clean the lint filter before every load — d80 often appears after extended neglect.
- 2 Pull the dryer away from the wall and inspect the flexible duct section: no sharp bends, not crushed.
- 3 Go outside and confirm the vent hood flap opens freely when the dryer runs.
- 4 For a full duct cleaning, use a dryer vent brush kit (sold at hardware stores) to clean the full duct run.
